Tencel: Materiál, který redefinuje moderní luxus

TENCEL™: The Future of Minimalist Fashion

Minimalist brands are increasingly turning to natural fibers that blend sophisticated aesthetics with practicality. Thanks to its fluid drape and durability, Tencel has naturally integrated into high-fashion collections, gradually replacing traditional cotton and viscose. It offers a unique structure, exceptional comfort, and longevity, making it the perfect material for today’s demands for both functionality and sustainability.

Lyocell TENCEL™ is an innovative cellulose fiber made from sustainably sourced wood, primarily eucalyptus. Due to its advanced production process, this material is remarkably soft, strong, and naturally breathable.

Its structure allows for excellent moisture regulation and long-lasting durability, maintaining a luxurious appearance and smooth hand feel. Tencel surpasses conventional cotton and viscose in strength, silkiness, and lower environmental impact.

What Makes Tencel Unique?

  • Structure & Aesthetic – Tencel comes in various finishes that influence its look and properties. At ESSIMÉ, we work with mercerized jersey for a sleek, subtly lustrous surface and twill weave with a washed effect, offering a softer, more natural look. Each finish is carefully chosen to complement the character of each design.
  • Functionality & Comfort – Exceptional breathability and moisture-regulating properties make Tencel ideal for year-round wear. The fabric is naturally antibacterial and more resistant to odors than regular cotton.
  • Durability – Tencel fibers are stronger than conventional viscose, ensuring greater longevity and improved sustainability. Unlike linen, it resists creasing while retaining a refined, organic texture.

How to Care for Tencel?

  • Washing – Use a gentle cycle at 30°C (86°F) with a spin speed of up to 800 RPM. Opt for mild detergents free from harsh chemicals.
  • Drying – Air drying is best. If ironing is needed, set to low heat.
  • Storage – Hang on a hanger to maintain its fluid drape and shape.

What is Mercerization and Why Does It Matter?

Mercerized jersey is a specially treated fabric that undergoes mercerization—a process that enhances fiber strength, smoothness, and dye absorption. This results in a subtle sheen, luxurious texture, and extended lifespan. Unlike regular knits, it retains its shape better and exudes a more sophisticated aesthetic.

Tencel is an investment in high-quality, long-lasting fashion with a refined aesthetic. At ESSIMÉ, we embrace this fabric for its ability to define modern minimalism in its purest form.
